Hi Laura,
What an inspiration you are! For those of us who are 40+ and battling a roller coaster of hormones and weight gain, it sure is nice to see that it’s still POSSIBLE to have a fit and healthy body!! Thank you for the clear and uncomplicated advice and fitness routines you post. When I feel down about myself and lack motivation to eat right or exercise, I log on to your website and watch the videos. It gives me an encouraging boost to not give up, but to persevere!! I have always been active, but job and family stress have caused me to fall into some unhealthy eating habits and the pounds packed on. This is not where I want to be. So, thank you for the much needed encouragement that you give to women like me! I can’t wait for your next post!

Dear Laura:
Thank you so much! We all really appreciate all your hard work in preparing all of this useful information,to support and maintain a healthy lifestyle. You are an inspiration, you are positive, and our amazing cheerleader!. I lost 30 pounds a year and a half ago. I have maintained the weight successfully except putting on 8 pounds from a trip to PORTUGAL in September. I think the whole summer of BBQ’s added to that too. I want to get back on track, I know what works, the coming home from WORK is the hardest time mindless eating. People still comment on how good I look for 56. Last Friday I pulled a muscle in my lower back quite painful to get in and out of the car. I had to stop my workouts, but I have been foam rolling R.I.C.E treatments, a few times I had to take a muscle relaxant, I tried yoga gentle, still not better.I try to walk, can’t walk fast. Can you address how we can stay fit work around an injury?
I love you very much!! Thank you for your support, and hard work.
Laura London
Hi Cecilia. Thank you! I appreciate your support. Congratulations on your 30 lbs. weight loss! Sounds like you had a great vacation. I hear you coming home from work and you are hungry and start with mindless eating. I suggest making sure you have a healthy snack at about 3 or 4 pm. This is the “magic” hour. Doing this will keep you from getting too hungry when you get home and then reaching for anything to tame your tummy. I have a great list of healthy snacks here: https://lauralondonfitness.com/eating-healthy-when-youre-crazy-busy/
Make sure to give your back the time to heal. I know if can be frustrating not being able to do the things you want to do. For now focus on your upper body while your back is healing. I too have a back issue and have to work around my injury. Your back alone has over 70 muscles in it and MUSCLE = FAT BURNING. You might be able to do my Pilates ring workout too. That is a good one when my back is not 100%. Take the time to heal and you will come back strong.

Laura, God bless you! How did you know that this is what I needed to hear. Actually you have already kick-started me on the green smoothies into my life now…it’s amazing and very easy to make. I make 2 qts at a time, get a serving, then freeze the rest which lasts me a couple of days. I don’t need to lose weight, I just need to be healthier and in better shape. I am trying to gain more strength and gain back some muscle mass which I know is hard when you’re getting older (and I am fighting fibromyalgia). Somehow, I just know if I follow you it will greatly enhance my life. I’ve probably followed you a bit for the last 2 yrs and your method and approach are very thoughtful and caring. Thank you so much for everything you do and being there to enrich our lives!

Hi Annette. I am so glad you got what you needed to hear from this video. Sometimes we need that gentle reminder to put us back on track. I love that you make 2 qts of green smoothies at a time. That is how you set yourself up for success. As we get older keeping up with weight training is very important to keep up the muscle mass. Most woman will just do cardio or walking. It is the strength training that stimulates HGH Human Growth Hormone and that is like the fountain of youth. Here is a great workout for you to do: https://lauralondonfitness.com/beginner-workout/
This round of Hot Body Express starts November 14th. I would love to have you join us. Have a Fit and Fabulous Day!
Samantha
Thank you Laura for this awesome video. it really resonated with me. I know I am way too hard on myself and need to make more time to take care of myself.
Laura London
Hi Samantha. I am glad you found the video valuable. We all need to realize that we are doing the best we can and not be so hard on ourselves. All that does in put more stress and pressure on us. I am so happy you are going to make more time for yourself.
